New Team for the Education and Higher Learning Ministry

Among the changes in the cabinet was the merger of the Education and Higher Education Ministry that has been given a new name – the Education and Higher Learning Ministry.
Heading the ministry is Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin with former Menteri Besar of Terengganu Idris Jusoh as the second minister. Idris has played a significant role in the development of education and Islam in Terengganu.
Tokoh Guru 2012 recipient Mary Yap has been appointed Deputy Education Minister I. Yap has served as an English teacher, lecturer, chief inspector of the Tawau Zone Schools' Inspectorate and principal of four schools.
Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor Parliamentary candidate P.Kamalanathan has been appointed Deputy Education Minister II.
