In case you missed it, here’s the timeline for UPU online application for the 2021/2022 academic session.
January | UPU online application for the 2021/2022 academic session opens on 4 January 2021 |
March | Closing date for UPU online application for the 2021/2022 academic session is 31 March 2021 at 5pm |
April | Interviews or assessment process for SPM category applicants from April to June 2021 |
May | Interviews or assessment process for STPM/equivalent category applicants from May to August 2021 |
July | The UPUOnline announcement date for SPM category applicants is expected in the third week of July 2021 |
August | Updating phase for STPM/equivalent category applicants from 9 to 12 August 2021 |
September | The UPUOnline announcement date for STPM/equivalent category applicants is expected in the third week of September 2021 |
What you need to know
For the 2021/2022 academic session, students do not need to pay the for the unique ID for applications to public universities (IPTA) and Institusi Latihan Kemahiran Awam (ILKA).
All you need to do is click on UPU's online portal to apply. You can download a step-by-step guide on how to register and log in at the same link.
Before you apply, determine which category you fall under. There are two categories for applicants.
- SPM school leavers
- Applications are open to category A (SPM2020) and category B (SPM 2019 & 2018) candidates
- Must be a Malaysian citizen
- Applications are for courses offered at public universities (IPTA) and Institusi Latihan Kemahiran Awam (ILKA)
- Candidates need to indicate a minimum of 6 courses of study, up to a maximum of 12 choices
- Check the course listings here:
- Closing date for the application is 31 March 2021 at 5pm
- The course choice offered will be announced 5 days after the SPM results are released
- Interviews or assessments (if required) will be conducted from April to June 2021
- STPM school leavers (or equivalent)
- Applications are open to STPM 2020 candidates, STAM 2020 and 2019, Matrikulasi KPM/Asasi PASUM/Asasi UITM (current year), and diploma holders or its equivalent
- Must be a Malaysian citizen
- Applications are for courses offered at bachelor’s degree level at all 20 public universities in Malaysia
- Candidates need to indicate a minimum of 6 courses of study, up to a maximum of 12 choices
- For diploma holders, candidates need to indicate a minimum of 6 courses of study, up to a maximum of 8 choices

- Closing date for the application is 31 March 2021 at 5pm
- The course choice offered will be announced 5 days after the STPM results are released
- Interviews or assessments (if required) will be conducted from May to August 2021
