Course Overview

This diploma develops students’ foundational and specialised skills in design, animation, visual media, and communication. Through hands-on training, project-based learning, and creative exploration, graduates are prepared for a wide range of careers in the digital and creative industries, with clear pathways into related degree programmes.

Curriculum

  • Semester 1: Academic Research Skills, Imaging/Production Skills for Design, Trends and Visual Thinking, Introduction Graphic Design
  • Semester 2: Advertising and Media, Visual Art Theory, Drawing & Presentation Techniques, Professional Communication, Introduction to Creative Project
  • Semester 3: Introduction to Project Management, Illustration for Concept Art, 3D Pipeline, Animation Principles
  • Semester 4: Motion Graphics, Digital Illustration Techniques, Cinema Film Analysis, Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Major Project Preparation, Electives (by pathway)
  • Semester 5: Applied Movement, New Media Studies, Major Project, Electives (by pathway)

Entry Requirements

  • SPM: 3 Credits in at least 3 subjects, with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia and Sejarah (History)
  • IGCSE/O-LEVELS: 3 Credits (Grade C & above) in at least 3 subjects
  • UEC: 3 Credits (Grade B & above) in at least 3 subjects
  • Certificate: Pass relevant Certificate Programme or equivalent
  • Portfolio or interview required (online/virtual/conventional)

English Requirements (International Students)

  • IELTS: 4.5
  • TOEFL IBT: 33
  • Pearson (PTE): 43
  • MUET: Band 3
  • Credit in English is required at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or equivalent

Study Abroad Pathway

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will be eligible to progress into Level 2 of the following degree programmes offered at APU. Students will also have the option to opt-in for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme.

APU-DMU Dual Degree Programme

Students who are under Bachelor’s Degree Programme will have the option to opt-in for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will receive 2 Degree Certificates & Transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK.
