Course Overview

This programme equips students with in-depth knowledge of artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. It emphasises real-world application development in the AI domain using statistical and algorithmic methods.

Achievement

APU-DMU Dual Degree. Graduates receive dual award from Asia Pacific University and De Montfort University (UK).

Curriculum

• Year 1:
  • Common: Introduction to Networking, Systems Software and Computing Concepts, Introduction to Databases, Python Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, Integrated Computer Systems, Fundamental of Entrepreneurship
  • Specialised: Digital Thinking and Innovation, Mathematical Concepts for Computing, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Object Oriented Programming
• Year 2:
  • Common: Innovation Process, Research Methods for Computing and Technology
  • Specialised: Systems and Network Administration, System Development Methods, Object Oriented Development with Java, Web Applications, Concurrent Programming, Computer Systems Low Level Technique, Data Structures, Programming for Data Analysis, AI Methods, Imaging and Special Effects
• Internship: Minimum 16 weeks
• Year 3:
  • Common: Venture Building, Project Management
  • Specialised: Investigations in Artificial Intelligence, Algorithmics, User Experience, Advanced Database Systems, Text Analytics and Sentiment Analysis, Image Processing, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Further Artificial Intelligence, Optimization and Deep Learning, Project in Artificial Intelligence
• MQA Compulsory Subjects: Appreciation of Ethics and Civilisation, Malay Communication Language, Philosophy and Current Issues, Workplace Professional Skills, Integrity and Anti-corruption, Co-Curriculum

Entry Requirements

• STPM: 2 Passes in Science stream with minimum Grade C (GPA 2.0) in Mathematics and one Science or ICT Subject OR with a credit in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and one Science/ICT subject at SPM + Pre-Requisite module in Further Mathematics.
• A-Level: 2 Passes with a Pass in Mathematics and one Science/ICT subject OR with a Credit in Additional Mathematics/Mathematics and Science/ICT at SPM + Pre-Requisite module in Further Mathematics.
• UEC: 5 Grade B Passes including Mathematics and one Science/ICT subject OR Additional Mathematics OR Mathematics and Science/ICT at SPM + Pre-Requisite module in Further Mathematics.
• Foundation/Matriculation: CGPA 2.0 and Credit in Additional Mathematics or Mathematics and Science/ICT + Pre-Requisite module in Further Mathematics.
• Diploma in ICT: CGPA ≥ 2.50 or CGPA 2.0–2.49 with rigorous assessment by APU. Exemption if strong performance in Maths-related subjects.

English Requirements (International Students):

• IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 40 / Pearson (PTE) 47 / MUET Band 3.5
