Course Overview

The Master of Science in Medical and Health Sciences is a postgraduate research mode programme that provides students with an in-depth understanding of various aspects of medical and health sciences as well as core modules of the programme include essential aspects of quantitative, and qualitative research designs, data analysis approaches including biostatistics to expand knowledge on conducting research projects. The individual, supervised projects will further equip students to apply knowledge to practical research skills while understanding research ethics principles.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the MSc in Medical and Health Sciences programme, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Related Fields:
    • A bachelor’s degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, allied health sciences, or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent from a recognised university, as accepted by the HEP Senate.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree with Lower CGPA:
    • A bachelor’s degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, allied health sciences, or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 but not meeting CGPA 2.75, or equivalent. Admission is subject to rigorous internal assessment.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree with Further Requirements:
    • A bachelor’s degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, allied health sciences, or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 but not meeting CGPA 2.50, or equivalent. Admission requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and rigorous internal assessment.
  4. Prerequisite Courses:
    • Candidates without a qualification in related fields or relevant working experience must complete appropriate prerequisite courses as determined by the HEP and meet the minimum CGPA requirements based on criteria (I) to (III).

English Requirements (Applicable to International Students Only)

  • IELTS: 6.0
  • TOEFL: 550
  • MUET: Band 4

Notes:

  • The validity period for English proficiency tests is based on the period indicated in the result at the time of admission (e.g., IELTS results are valid for 2 years from the test date).
  • English competency is exempted for applicants from countries where English is the first language or institutions where the curriculum is delivered in English.
