Course Overview
The Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-year program offered by the Faculty of Medicine with Widad University College.
This medical course in Malaysia is designed to prepare you for the challenges of the medical field by proving extensive clinical experience, knowledge, research opportunities, clinical practice.
We aim to foster our students in the challenging field of medicine through innovative approaches and impeccable support from experienced practitioners and professors.
They will have the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the world of surgeons, physicians and medicine academics through the best medical course in Malaysia.
Curriculum
The MBBS degree is a 5-year programme designed to lay a solid foundation for your challenging career in medicine. The programme follows a module structure which is divided in two phases.
Phase 1 - Basic Medical Sciences
During the first two years, you will learn basic service subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, pathology etc.
You will also learn about the interaction between society, the environment & human health as well as well being.
You will be guided to develop a scientific mindset, acquire professional attributes, and gain the basic clinical skills required to progress to the next phase of your learning by early exposure to clinical medicine.
At the end of year two you will sit for your FIRST PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION.
Phase 2 - Clinical Phase
During the next three years which constitute the second phase of your learning, you will acquire the relevant clinical knowledge and enhance your clinical skills to become a safe, competent, effective, efficient and humane clinician.
You will gradually learn the “Art of Doctoring” from our experienced local and international clinical specialists. They will inspire you to further your career after graduation and to become a lifelong learner.
At the end of your fifth year you will sit for your FINAL PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION.
Programme Completion
Upon graduation with the MBBS degree, Widad University College medical graduates will be provisionally registered with the and will begin their housemanship (presently 2 years) in government hospitals.
Once fully registered and usually after 2-3 years of experience as a Medical Officer they can then either:
- start their own practice (GP);
- proceed to any other higher qualification in medicine i.e. clinical specialisations;
- follow an academic pathway leading to MSc and ultimately a PhD in a particular area of interest.

Entry Requirements
Option 1: Entry with Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) / A-Level
- Pass the STPM / A-Level with the following combinations:
- Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics (Grade AAC)
- Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics (Grade ABC)
- Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics (Grade BBB)
Option 2: Entry with Matriculation / Foundation Science / Pre-Medical Programme
- Pass the Matriculation / Foundation Science / Pre-Medical Cource with CGPA of 3.0 in three subjects, provided no score for any subject is less than GPA of 2.0. The required subjects are:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics / Mathematics
- Provided the course is not less than one (1) year in the same accredited institution.
- Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / O-Level with 5 Bs in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
- Any other one (1) subject
Option 3: Entry with Diploma in Health Sciences
- Pass the Diploma in Health Sciences with CGPA 3.50.
- Provided the course is not less than five (5) semester OR two years and a half (2 ?) in the same accredited institution.
- Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / O-Level with:
- Minimum grade of B in two subjects: Biology / Chemistry / Physics
- Credit in English
- Credit in Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
- Credit in any other 1 subject
Option 4: Entry with Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)
- Obtain B4 each in five (5) subjects:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Additional Mathematics
Additional Requirements
Applicants are required to pass an aptitude test and/or an interview and/or a university entrance examination.
Additional Requirements (International students only)
- English Language Requirement IELTS / TOEFL:
- IELTS: An average score of 5.5 and a minimum of 5.0 for each component; or
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 550.
Other Information
All applicants shall declare if they:
- Have been found guilty of any criminal offence; and/or
- Have a serious physical or mental illness; and/or
- Have a serious communicable disease(s) that may impact their future practice.
Individuals with any of the following will be disqualified from entry into a medical programme:
- Found guilty of offence(s) affecting the human body; and/or
- Recent or serious engaged in such as dishonesty cheating at examinations, falsifying of documents, plagiarism; and/or
- Having a serious physical or mental illness; and/or
- Having a serious communicable disease(s).
Failure to declare information that has a material influence on a student’s fitness to practise may lead to the termination of their medical course, as honesty, integrity and good health are essential attributes of a doctor and by extension, the medical student.
