IMU’s Implant Dentistry programme is the first and only Accredited programme recognized by the Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), and benchmarked against The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Designed for the working dentist, students have the flexibility to learn at their own pace and build their confidence in developing their clinical skills at IMU’s Oral Health Centre or at the student’s own clinic.
At IMU, you will be able to learn from the world-class faculty who bring with them rich experiences in the field and be guided by evidence-based methods.
The PGDID programme includes on-site, off-site and e-learning activities. This programme is designed for full-time and part-time students with the respective flexible options. The programme includes six modules of compulsory on-site activities in IMU School of Dentistry delivered over twelve months. For the clinical activities, students have the choice of treating patients at the IMU’s Oral Health Centre or in their own clinics. Students who opt to treat patients in their own clinics are required to pay an honorarium for travel and accommodation (if applicable) for the clinical supervisor to be at their clinics. The students have up to three years to complete their logbook of ten clinical cases. Once the students finish their clinical cases then they can appear for final assessment as per the dates scheduled in the academic calendar.
Both the full-time and part-time students have formative and summative assessments. These include online single best answer questions (SBA), written assignments, short answer questions (SAQ), objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and submit a Logbook of 10 implant cases out of which 2 cases needs to be completely restored and submit as portfolio.
