Course Overview

Diploma in Nursing at KPJU has produced thousands of Registered Nurses since 1991, all trained by KPJ Specialist Hospitals all over the country. The program is accredited by both the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Nursing Board – Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM). The program aims to achieve the right balance between theory and practice. Following that, our students learn approximately 30% in classrooms, 20% in our on-campus Skill Labs, and 50% undergoing Clinical Training at our hospitals. We are proud to have thousands of our Alumni with Diplomas in Nursing working in public and private hospitals now as frontliners and the backbone of the healthcare industry. Being the Big Sister in Nursing education in the region, KPJU offers the whole ecosystem of Nursing academic programs from Diploma, Post-basic, Bachelor, Master up to PhD in Nursing – all accredited by MQA.

Scholarship

KPJ provides a variety of scholarship opportunities, including Scholarships based on merit and Dermasiswa based on financial need, underscoring our commitment to nurturing the future generation of healthcare leaders and professionals. Many students may find themselves free from tuition and fees for the duration of their academic careers thanks to the joint support of PTPTN and our scholarship. Hostel rooms are available for the full three-year study term, but the costs involved are not included in the total cost of tuition and fees.

KPJ will also provide a Nursing Financial Scheme specifically for students pursuing a Diploma in Nursing beginning in 2023. This financial aid program is intended especially for students who wish to continue their education at KPJ University’s Diploma in Nursing program. It was founded in response to the growing need for patient care in the KPJ hospitals’ new wards and the dearth of trained nurses at KPJ hospitals across Malaysia.

Entry Requirements

Malaysian Students

• Pass SPM or equivalent (5 credits)

• Pass in English

• Credit in Bahasa Melayu

• Credit in any Mathematics subject AND any Science subject

• Credit in 2 other subjects

      OR

• Pass SPM or equivalent
• Obtained ≥ 3 years clinical work experience
• Possess Assistant Nurse Certificate OR Community Nurse Certificate
• Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB)
• Possess current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB

International Students

• Pass SPM or *equivalent with 5 subject (minimum Grade C) :

i) Credit in Mathematics (Elementary / Additional / Modern)

AND

Either 1 of the credit below :

ii) Science / Biology / Chemistry / Physics / Applied Science

AND 

iii. Credit in 3 other subjects

AND

 iv) A pass in IELTS with an overall band score of minimum 5.5;

OR

v) TOEFL : 

• TOEFL PBT a minimum score of 5.15
• TOEFL CBT a minimum score of 215
• TOEFL IBT a minimum score of 80

vi) Cambridge Advance English (CAE)

vii) Cambridge Proficiency English (CPE)

viii) Pearson Test of English (PTE)

(*Equivalent – refer to the oversea academic qualification obtained that is equivalent to SPM as approved by MQA).

Career Prospects

Upon successful completion of the 3-year Diploma in Nursing program at KPJU, students will be eligible to sit for the national level examination by Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM). In our more than 30 years of experience, all 100% of our students pass this examination. After passing the examination they will be awarded State Registered Nurse (SRN) status. Many of them are employed by KPJ Specialist Hospitals while others work at other private or public hospitals. Upon verification done by the respective country’s Nursing Board, candidates would be eligible to work abroad.
