Course Overview

This post basic program is developed to assist staff nurse in advanced knowledge and skills to perform competently in managing pediatric patients. This program will cover acute and chronic conditions in pediatrics. For clinical posting the students will be posted in KPJ group hospitals as well as Ministry of Health hospitals. As technology and medical/pharmaceutical interventions allow children to survive from childhood illness and grow into adolescents and young adults.  Pediatric nurses play an important role in providing quality, evidence – based care.

  • Pediatric Nursing Science I (PBPN 6123)
  • Pediatric Nursing Practice I (PBPN 6135)
  • Pediatric Nursing Science II (PBPN 6244)
  • Pediatric Nursing Practice II (PBPN 6265)
  • Pediatric Nursing Science III (PBPN 6254)

Entry Requirements

Malaysian Students:

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing from a recognized MNB.

  • Registered with MNB.

  • Possess current annual Practicing certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB.

  • ≥ 2 years clinical working experience

Health Status

  1. All candidates MUST be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner with ONE MONTH from commencement of the nursing programme.

  2. A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into nursing program. Serious physical or mental illness, and/or Serious communicable disease

  3. Candidate MUST not have any physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity

Career Prospects

Pediatric nursing is like most nursing specialties which is highly in and expected to grow. In future nurses skilled in this specialty will be needed even more in the coming years.
