The pre-Bachelor programme at KPJU (Foundation in Science) strives to engage students in series of attractive rigorous courses that will challenge and provide them with useful insights and experience to pursue lifelong passion in tertiary learning. This programme offers the basis for students to create the interest in fulfilling a real life job market needs in the field they aspire to pursue for their bachelor degree qualification. The one-year full-time programme with two normal semesters and one short semester ensures students to be able to think critically, to deliver arguments confidently and effectively communicate with the society in the challenging world today. This programme also nurtures the interests in studying sciences among students through interactive science workshops and lab experiments. It encourages students to be versatile as they have the exposures to extracurricular activities through our dynamic offering of various students’ clubs. Lecturers are committed throughout the teaching and learning process, offering individual attention and mentoring sessions to support students in achieving good results. Many KPJU pre-university students have successfully progressed into locals and international institutions including in Bangladesh. The uniqueness of this pre-university programme is that the students will have the opportunity to further studies in the non-science degree programmes, as well. In short, it is a comprehensive programme with a dynamic learning environment in achieving their dreams, and its certification is valid for both local and private universities since it is fully certified by MQA.

Foundation in Science (FIS) is a pre-university programme that students can take after SPM in preparation for degree programmes. It is a straightforward path to further their studies in degree programmes. The advantages of our programme include:
1. We would reserve you a place for a Bachelor Degree of your choice upon passing and completion of your Foundation.
2. You will get the highest priority for Biasiswa or Dermasiswa for your Bachelor programme subject to you fulfilling the requirements for our Financial Aid.
3. The tuition and fee of RM7,500 will be waived should the students are accepted for and continue with any Bachelor programme at KPJU immediately upon completion of their Foundation in Science.
This course prepares and equip student with the knowledge, skill and attitude to understand basic psychology. Students will learn the historical foundations in psychology, methods of psychology; behaviors; attention and perception; motivation and emotion; learning, memory and forgetting; personality and intelligence.
This course, the first of a 3-semester sequence, is a pre-Intermediate level course designed to develop communicative competence in written and spoken English.
This course covers topics on basic linear algebra, equations, inequalities, functions and their graphs, polynomial and rational functions, analyzing graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, systems of linear equations and matrices.
This course is designed to enable the student to study the basic principles of chemistry and to apply the knowledge to the importance of chemistry in chemical analysis.
Topics covered in practical include the study of formula unit, matter, chemical bonding, chemical equilibrium, ionic equilibrium, titration of acids and bases, and thermochemistry.
Topics covered in lectures include the structure and function of cell, microscopy, cell membranes, enzymes, cellular metabolism and respiration, photosynthesis, homeostasis and immune system.
Topics covered in practical include the safe laboratory practices, study of microscope, cell and its components, osmosis by potato osmometer and plasmolysis in peels in isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic solutions using sodium chloride and potassium chloride, digestion of starch, fats, and proteins, identify the various plant pigments and identify the biochemical constituents of plants such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
This course introduces the principles and foundations of time management, reading, writing and thinking critically, active listening, problem solving techniques and test-taking skills. Exposure will be given to techniques in speech organization, planning and effective presentation as well as managing group work.
This course, the second of a 3-semester sequence, is an Intermediate level course designed to develop communicative competence in written and spoken English.
This course aims to gain a firm understanding of important principles and concepts in mathematics and give student preparation for the next level.
This course is designed to enable the student to study the basic principles of chemistry and to apply the knowledge and relate the importance of chemistry in chemical analysis; and to various body processes inclusive of chemical reactions and interactions in the body.
The Chemistry Practical 2 laboratory class consists of a series of 7 experiments designed to illustrate basic chemical phenomena and reinforce concepts covered in the lecture-based part of the course of Chemistry 2. It is also intended to develop general experimental, data presentation and also report writing skills.
Topics covered in lectures include the structure and function of major organ system in human, mitosis and meiosis cell division, biodiversity, DNA structure, characteristics of DNA replication, application of gene technology and the basic terminologies in ecology.
Topics covered in practical include the study of mitosis-meiosis cell division, anatomy of nervous system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, respiratory system, urinary system, reproductive system, human skeletal system and sense organs. Histological slides of different tissues/organs, haematology, biochemistry and blood pressure determination will also be covered.
This course prepares and equips student with the knowledge, skill and attitude to understand legal and ethical considerations in healthcare practices.
This course, the final of a 3-semester sequence, is an Intermediate level course designed to develop communicative competence in written and spoken English and provide a specific foundation for the next level that is the Academic English.
This course covers the foundations of physics which includes topics on: Basic measurement, mechanic, state matter and oscillation and waves, Electricity, Magnetism, Quantum and Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics.
This course covers the practical sessions related to the physics course which includes experiments on: Measurement and Certainty, Free Fall and Projectile Motion, Principle of Conservation of Linear Momentum, Equilibrium of Forces, Simple Harmonic Motion, Capacitor: Time Constant of an RC Circuit, The OHM’s Law and The Equivalent Resistance and Potentiometer: Internal Resistance of Dry Cell.

Pass UEC with ≥ 4B (include Science and Math)
Passed SPM/ SPMV with at least credit in 5 subjects; OR
