Course Overview

Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science with Health Sciences (Hons) is a unique career-oriented degree programme offered by KPJ Healthcare University, Nilai. The programme is fully accredited by MQA and KPT. Students of this programme acquire readily employable skills for pharmaceutical and healthcare industries through the integration of theoretical principles and practical training at the highly sophisticated pilot scale laboratory within the campus. Besides that, the industrial training, and research ensures to develop the skills for address the current and future challenges in pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

The program is a merger of two broader fields which are Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Health Sciences. This is to ensure graduates have wider employment and higher education opportunities within Malaysia and overseas. Major areas of graduate employment include :

HANDS-ON SOPHISTICATED LAB EXPERIENCE

The BPS students get a wide experience in terms of laboratory work by engaging themselves in the Centre of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences. This centre is equipped with sophisticated analytical equipment such as HPLC, Gas Chromatography, FTIR, Flame Photometry and many more. The centre also has its own line of tablet manufacturing which provides hands-on experience for undergraduates even before stepping into the real industry out there.

The School of Pharmacy, through the Centre of Excellence forms the strong integration between academia and industry by collaborating in various industrial projects. These industries engage our students as trainees in their final semester and this paves the pathway to a solid employment opportunity. The affiliations with the industry are numerous namely Pharmaniaga, Novugen, KCK, Unimed, MOH Pharma and many more. The strong relationship ensures a bright future for our graduates.

Financing your Study

KPJ offers Scholarship for Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science in the form of Biasiswa by Merit that reflects our commitment in grooming future pharmaceutical and healthcare scientists.  With the combination of PTPTN and our Scholarship, students may need to pay very little tuition fee.  Alumni of KPJU are also given the Alumni Scholarship of 10% which enables a further deduction in fee. With confirmed industrial training at reputable organisations, students can aspire to work in these industries after graduating. All Bachelor students will also enjoy free-of-charge on-campus accommodation in Nilai  for the first year.

Entry Requirements

Malaysian students:

i) Obtained MUET Band 3 or IEL TS (5.5) or TOEFL (550) or pass in English Aptitude Test conducted by KPJ Helathcare University (KPJU) on approval by Senate. AND
ii) Pass Matriculation/ Pre-University/ STPM programme or equivalent qualification with minimum CGPA 2.33 in TWO of the following subjects 

  • Biology
  • Physics / Mathematics
  • Chemistry

OR

iii) A-Level programme or equivalent qualification with minimum Grade D in TWO of the following subjects :

  • Biology
  • Physics / Mathematics
  • Chemistry

OR

iv) Recognised Diploma with minimum CGPA of 2.75 in related field;

OR

v) Recognised Diploma with CGPA less than 2. 75 in related field and a minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the related field.

International Students:

  • Candidate should obtain IEL TS (5.5) / TOEFL (550) paper-based or equivalent.

Graduates of this program have great job opportunities in Pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in drug discovery research, product development, quality control, regulatory affairs, marketing and management, hospital planning and administration, and academic within Malaysia and overseas.

Currently, the graduates of this programme are employed in reputable industries like PharmaNiaga, Novugen, Kotra Pharma, Topglove, DKSH, Zontron pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Health, UniMED, Hershey, Accobiotech, Unison Nutraceuticals, and Lens Pharmaceuticals, Singapore. Some others are pursuing higher studies in Malaysia and overseas. Research outcome of the graduates have been presented at various innovation competitions and received several awards.
