The Post Basic Certificate in Emergency Nursing (PBEN) is a 6 month homegrown programme offered by School of Nursing, KPJ Healthcare University, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. It obtained its approval from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) on October 2023 and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). The structure of the curriculum is guided by the Standard and Guidelines of the Nursing Board Malaysia. The Post Basic Certificate in Emergency Nursing (PBEN) is 20 credits programme and for clinical practice, it will be done at various accredited KPJ hospitals and ministry of health hospital.

Minimum entry requirement for Post Basic Certificate in Emergency Nursing:
Possess Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution by MNB.
Registered with the MNB
Possess current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB.
Minimum two (2) years clinical working experience.
Health Status
All candidates MUST be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner with ONE MONTH from commencement of the nursing programme.
A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into nursing program. Serious physical or mental illness, and / or Serious communicable disease
Candidate MUST not have any physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity.
This course is designed primarily to prepare Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room with required knowledge, skills, and characteristics to function in a safety-conscious and effective manner in emergency setting. It is also aimed to prepare the emergency room nurses to evaluate and monitor patients and to manage their care in the emergency department including providing first aid, advanced clinical care, and lifesaving medications.
