Course Overview

The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a 2.5-year programme that provides theoretical and practical skills for careers in mechanical and manufacturing industries. The programme addresses the current shortage of mechanical engineering technicians by combining practical skills with innovative thinking to design and build mechanical devices, systems and machines.

The curriculum includes hands-on training in mechanical workshop, 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing), and culminates with industrial training in the final semester. Students will complete a Final Year Project and have options for electives to specialize in specific mechanical engineering areas.

Curriculum

Year 1: Technical Mathematics, Engineering Design, Materials Science, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Workshop

Year 2: Statics, Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Additive Manufacturing (3D Modelling/Printing), Manufacturing Technology

Year 3: Final Year Project, Electives, Industrial Training (8 weeks)

Entry Requirements

• SPM: Pass SPM/SPMV with (3) Credits in: Mathematics & Science (Science/Technical/Vocational) & 1 other subject. Pass in English.
• STPM: Pass STPM with min CGPA 2.00/C in any (1) subject and pass in Mathematics & English and Science Technical/Vocational at SPM level. Credit in Maths at SPM level.
• UEC: Pass UEC with Grade B in 3 subjects: Mathematics & Science (Science/Technical/Vocational) & 1 other subject. Pass in English.
• Certificate: Pass Certificate in Engineering/Engineering Technology (Level 3) with min CGPA 2.00 OR Vocational/Technical Certificate with CGPA 2.00 and 1 year working experience or 1 semester bridging course.
• Others: Other equivalent qualification approved by the Senate and Government of Malaysia.
• English Requirement: IELTS: 5.0 | TOEFL PBT: 500 | MUET: BAND 3
