Course Overview

QIU’s Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Honours) is a comprehensive programme that aims to train students in various disciplines of medical sciences, allowing them to take up responsibilities in diverse fields. The course provides the students with a systematic understanding of the fundamentals of human biology and medical sciences, including a coherent and detailed knowledge of structure and functioning of the human body, biochemistry, pharmacology and the pathophysiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases in order to maintain and promote health.

An in-depth understanding of laboratory working protocol, safety issues, principles of experimental design, theory and practical application of modern research techniques is provided to prepare them for new and innovative ways to diagnose medical illnesses. The students are also equipped with knowledge of bioinformatics, health informatics, bioethics and entrepreneurial skills in order to prepare them for the future challenges they are likely to face.

Through group work of information gathering, literature reviewing, report writing, poster and oral presentations, the students will acquire a strong command of scientific writing, presentation and communication skills.
