With a focus on five key areas – basic medical services; clinical and therapeutic methods, procedures, and investigations; community and family medicine; communication skills; and professional competence – the curriculum is designed to produce highly skilled doctors capable of meeting future medical challenges and advancing healthcare.

UCSI University’s MD programme is a five-year course that is segregated into two phases. Phase 1 of the programme (the first two years) which is known as the Pre-Clinical Phase, is carried out at UCSI University Springhill Campus (Seremban/Port Dickson). While Phase 2 (the final three years) is carried out at various hospitals and health clinics in Negeri Sembilan.
The pre-clinical years are divided into two semesters, each with approximately 16 weeks of class sessions. Contrarily, the clinical years are organised into major and minor postings with a variety of learning weeks spaced out between these postings.
Academically-qualified candidates are required to attend an interview for admission. The outcome of the interview determines a candidate's successful admission into the programme.
There will be two Professional Examinations. The Professional Examination 1 comprises two parts: the first part to be taken at the end of the first year and the second part at the end of second year. The student will proceed to the subsequent year on passing this examination. Students may be allowed to re-sit but will be excluded from the course if they fail the re-sit examination. Students may also request to repeat the year in lieu of a re-sit examination but he can do so ONLY ONCE for Phase 1.
The Professional Examination 2 will be conducted at the end of the Phase 2, final year. Those who fail may be allowed to take re-sit the examination after SIX MONTHS.
