The Applied Language Studies (Hons.) English for Professional Communication programme is tailor made to meet the growing demand for graduates with excellent language and communication skills who can compete in a globalised workplace.
To achieve its objectives, the programme structure emphasizes language and communication strategies, linguistics, critical thinking, cross-cultural interaction, management, entrepreneurship, computer literacy and organizational behaviour. The programme adopts a student-centred approach which provides opportunities for hands-on learning in multimedia contexts. Students will combine core programme courses with electives in Business Management or Education or Hotel and Tourism Management.
The programme extends for 6 semesters (3 years), although students with relevant Diplomas or equivalent may apply for credit transfers. A total of 120 credit hours must be completed for graduation, including 12 weeks of practical training, a final year project, and 18 credit hours for the electives in Business Management, Education and Tourism Management courses.
STPM or equivalent
( CGPA minimum : 2.00 ) with at least a Grade C ( grade point 2.00 ) in three ( 3 ) subjects, including general paper AND
SPM / SPMV or equivalent
with a pass in Mathematics / Additional Mathematics and a credit (minimum 3B) in English Language
OR
UiTM / PASUM / Matriculation
(CGPA Minimum 2.00) with at least a grade C (grade point 2.00) in three (3) subjects AND
SPM or equivalent
with a pass in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics and a credit (Minimum 3B) in English Language
OR
CGPA Minimum 2.50 in Diploma from UiTM
OR
CGPA Minimum 2.00 in Diploma from UiTM and Two (2) years working experience in relevant disciplines
OR
CGPA Minimum 3.00 in Diploma from other institutions accredited by MQA AND
SPM or equivalent
with five (5) credits including English Language, Mathematics /Additional Mathematics.
OR
CGPA minimum 2.75 in Diploma from other institutions accredited by MQA and two (2) years working experience in relevant disciplines AND
SPM or equivalent
with five (5) credits including English Language, Mathematics /Additional Mathematics.
OR
Foundation Programmes:
CGPA minimum 2.00 in Asasi Law UiTM (P1005 / P1006) or TESL (KPT)
AND
Band 4 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
