Course Overview

Industry based on livestock is rapidly growing in all aspects, which placed livestock among the important source of food in Agriculture apart from the recreational, sports, security, occupation (profession), entertainment and the scientific research. Livestock is being that is integral to the lives of humanity. The success of humankind is dependent on the wellbeing of livestock. Hence, it is the responsibility of humankind to ensure that there is a good balance and synergy between humanity and livestock.

Entry Requirements

STPM/ or equivalent

?

• Obtain minimum of Grade B (NGMP00) for STPM in the following subjects:
  • Biology
  • Additional Mathematics and
• Any one (1) of the following subjects
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Advanced mathematics

Notes:

• Candidate who does not pass Additional Mathematics at STPM level must at least has credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level.
• Obtained at least credit at SPM level for following subjects:
  1. English
  2. Mathematics
• Obtained at least Band 3 in Malaysian University Engllish Test(MUET)
• All candidates who have been shortlisted will be interviewed by Veterinary Medicine Faculty UMK personnel.
• Matriculation candidate

General University terms

• Pass SPM/equivalent with credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject or credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and
• Pass matriculation KPM/Asasi Sains UM/Asasi Undang-undang with at least CGPA 2.00 and
• Obtained at least Band 1 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

General University terms

• Pass Diploma/equivalent with acknowledgement by Malaysian government and approved by IPTA senate or
• Pass STPM year 2007 or previously with at least CGPA 00 and obtained at least
  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in General Studies subject and
  • Grade C(NGMP 2.00) in 2 other subjects or
• Pass Matriculation KPM/Asasi Sains UM/Asasi Uitm year 2007 with at least CGPA 2.00 and
• Pass SPM or equivalent with credit (Grade c) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or credit (Grade C) Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Melayu July Paper and
• Obtained at least Band 1 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Diploma/equivalent

Obtained Diploma with credit in related field from an institution acknowledged by government, MQA and approval by UMK senate and obtained CGPA at least 3.00

or

Obtained other qualification which acknowledged as equivalent by Malaysian government and approved by UMK senate and obtained CGPA at least 3.00

and

Obtained at least credit at SPM level in 5 subjects including

• English and
• Mathematics

Notes:

• Intake and duration of study will be depending on the exemption of the approved subjects by UMK. Candidate need to submit complete exam result during Diploma (from semester 1 till then last semester) to UMK. Candidate also need to submit copy of Diploma/equivalent or confirmation of thegraduation letter and other supporting letters with Copy of Online Application Form aslisted before application closing date.
• Obtained at least Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
• All candidates who have been shortlisted will be interviewed by Veterinary Medicine Faculty UMK personnel.

Career Prospects

With high level skills and adequate training in Veterinary Medicine, graduate from this programme not only needed in agriculture but also in the other profession related to care and wellbeing of animal. Graduate can also contribute in public service as veterinarian.

Graduate also can involve in research to produce latest innovation in an effort to contribute in expending the veterinary medicine industry and indirectly triumph the agriculture industry. Career prospects can also be created through use of knowledges, skills, supports and join ventures from local and international companies. Graduate of Veterinary Medicine can involve in entrepreneurship and create business like hospital and clinic for animals, apart from providing consultations and services.
