Course Overview

Psychology relates to the study of the human mind and behaviours. It explores the processes involved in normal and abnormal thoughts, feelings and actions. 

Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) Psychology aims at building in-depth knowledge of an appreciation for the concepts and theories of psychology. It equips students with knowledge of psychology and understanding of the range of applications of that knowledge. 

Emphasis is placed on the relevance of the courses to meet the changing needs of the Malaysian socio-economic environment. Students will be placed under supervised industrial training programme to gain practical experience.

Entry Requirements

STPM 1. A minimum of Grade C in any 2 subjects 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification** 

STAM 1. A minimum grade of Jayyid 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification** 

A-Level 1. A minimum of Grade D in any 2 subjects 2. Grade C in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM / equivalent qualifciation** 

UEC 1. Grade B in 5 subjects 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification** 

SAM 1. Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification** 

CPU 1. An average of 70% in any 6 subjects 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification**

 

TVET Diplomas: Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM): 1. Must be fully accredited by MQA. 2. A minimum CGPA of 2.50 or CGPA 2.00 with at least 2 years working experience in relevant field, subject to Senate / Academic Board’s approval. 3. Applicants will be required to pass the admission screening process conducted by the faculty and take bridging courses in Mathematics and Science during the period of their study in addition to the existing curriculum structure. 4. Credit transfer can be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to existing credit transfer policies which are in effect. Note: Must have a credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification**

 

Foundation from UTAR Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in any field Advanced Diploma (Level 5, MQF) in the relevant field: 1. Minimum CGPA of 2.00 2. Credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification**

 

Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government: MUST have a credit in 1 Mathematics subject and 1 Science subject and a Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent qualification**
