Banking and Finance related to the management of money and financial instruments in an economy. Their activities range from managing the circulation of monies, the decision making of investment, the granting of credit, the acquisition of capital, the provision of banking facilities and the management of financial institutions and financial system.
The Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance is developed to train students not only on the different operational aspects of a business entity but also equip students with specialised banking and finance knowledge and skills.
In addition, students practice with an industrial relevant tool such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS) for business analytics and intelligence, data management and predictive analytics. The combination of operational efficiency and expertise in banking and finance coupled with ability in the industrial relevant tool is a qualification that is highly sought after by many employers other than those in the banking and finance sector.
Graduates of the Banking and Finance degree programme will be given certain exemptions from the professional examinations of AICB, ACCA, ICSA, MACS and FPAM. UTAR's Banking and Finance is also recognised by Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Programme which provides additional professional pathway to our students to engage in the investment careers.
Besides, UTAR has partnered with to enable the Banking and Finance students to access the CIMA Professional Qualification. Students will only need to complete 3 Case Studies exam to complete the professional qualification concurrently with the UTAR Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance degree.
The UTAR Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance is recognised by the following organisations.
STPM 1. A minimum of Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent*
STAM 1. A minimum grade of Jayyid 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent*
A-Level 1. A minimum of Grade D in any 2 subjects 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent*
UEC 1. Grade B in 5 subjects 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent* SAM 1. Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent*
CPU 1. An average of 70% in 6 subjects 2. Pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level / equivalent*
TVET Diplomas: Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) 1. Must be fully accredited by MQA. 2. A minimum CGPA of 2.50 or CGPA 2.00 with at least 2 years working experience in relevant field, subject to Senate / Academic Board’s approval. 3. Applicants will be required to pass the admission screening process conducted by the faculty and undergo the Bridging programme, if necessary, during the period of their study in addition to the existing curriculum structure. 4. Credit transfer can be considered on a case-to-case basis and subject to existing credit transfer policies which are in effect.

Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning / equivalent Diploma (Level 4, MQF) Advanced Diploma (Level 5, MQF): Minimum CGPA of 2.00
*Note: The requirement for a pass in Mathematics and English at SPM Level can be waived should the qualifications contain Mathematics and English subjects with an equivalent / higher achievement. Applicants without a pass in SPM Mathematics / equivalent can be admitted but are required to attend Mathematics Enhancement Course (MEC). Students must pass the MEC as a prerequisite to related core courses before joining the degree programme. Applicants without a pass in SPM English / equivalent can be admitted but are required to take one of the English Proficiency Test listed in the University's Recognised English Examinations and Minimum Scores chart. Students must meet the English language requirements before joining the degree programme.
