Course Overview

Physiotherapist plays a very vital role as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in health care. Physiotherapists provide services to people to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. 

Physiotherapy practice is concerned with identifying and maximising quality of life and functional movement potential, within the spheres of promotion, prevention, maintenance, intervention, treatment, habitation and rehabilitation.

The programme was established to fulfill societal and market demand on physiotherapy profession. We aim to provide the educational experience, practical training and technical competence necessary for the practice of physiotherapy. 

We will produce graduate physiotherapists, who are professionally competent and able to demonstrate good ethical judgement and compassion in the treatment of patients. Our graduates will be trained to develop good communication skills, critical thinking, leadership quality, the ability to make independent clinical decision, and to engage in continual professional development as part of life-long learning.

Entry Requirements

  • UTAR Foundation Programme
  • STPM: Grade C/C+ in 2 relevant subjects depending on the programs (except M.B.B.S. and Quantity Surveying)
  • A-Level: Grade D in 2 or 3 relevant subjects
  • UEC: Grade B in 5 relevant subjects
  • SAM: ATAR 70 and Grade B in at least 2 relevant subjects
  • CPU: An average of 70% in 6 relevant subjects (depending on programs)
  • Matriculation Certificate, Ministry of Education
  • Foundation/Diploma in the relevant fields
  • Other recognized equivalent qualifications

Career Prospects

UTAR graduates will help alleviate the current national shortage of qualified graduate physiotherapist, and be the trainers for future generation of physiotherapists. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association (MPA). 
 

Graduates can expect to find employment in various health sectors, both public and private sectors such as:
